This 8-day tour runs from September 24th-October 2nd, 2014 and takes visitors through the beautiful scenery and vistas of the Andres Mountains as well as the cities of Lima and Cuzco all for  $2,950 per person for Chamber members ($3,150 for Non-Members).

Follow in the ancient footsteps of the Inca on this 8 day express tour of Peru. With a full day excursion to the breathtaking Inca site of Machu Picchu on the magnificent Vistadome train included, this tour gives visitors a real taste of Peru’s glorious past while offering the chance to network with like-minded travellers.

DAY 1:            CANADA – LIMA (ARRIVE)

Today you will board your flight to Lima. On arrival in Lima you will be met by at the airport by a company representative and transferred to your hotel.  The city of Lima, also known as the City of Kings, was founded by Francisco Pizarro on January 18, 1535 on the right bank of the Rímac River.  Overnight in Lima

DAY 2:            LIMA

Enjoy a morning city tour of Lima.  Your tour today begins at the Main Square, where the Government Palace is located, with a visit to the Cathedral where you will find the remains of the conqueror Francisco Pizarro. The tour continues with a stop at San Francisco Church and Monastery; the complex was built over underground catacombs. Afterwards you will visit the Residential zone of San Isidro, which boasts attractive parks, squares and avenues, as well as cafes, restaurants, and an active night life.  The rest of the afternoon is free for you to spend at your leisure.  Overnight in Lima (B/D)

DAY 3:            LIMA – CUZCO

Today you will be transferred to the airport to board your flight to Cuzco. With its rich archaeological legacy, thriving cultural scene and bustling nightlife, Cuzco is a magical city of dizzying excitement. On arrival you will be met by a company representative and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the afternoon is free for you to spend at your leisure. Overnight in Cuzco (B/D)

DAY 4:            CUZCO

After breakfast today you can enjoy a morning tour of the city and nearby ruins.  Visit Cuzco’s Main Square, known in Inca times as Hucaypata or “The Warriors Square” and the scene of many key events in Cuzco’s history.   See the Cathedral and Korikancha Temple, a temple dedicated to the worship of the sun and whose walls were plated with gold sheets.  Afterwards visit the ruins above Cuzco: Kenko, Pucapucara, Tambomachay and the Sacsayhuaman Fortress, an imposing example of Inca military architecture. After the excursion you will be transferred back to your hotel. Spend the rest of the afternoon at your leisure. Overnight in Cuzco (B/D)

DAY 5:            CUZCO

Today is free for you to spend at your leisure.

Optional: Full day Sacred Valley tour. Visit Pisac Market, which attracks thousands of visitors and people from remote communities, dressed in colorful, traditional attire. Continue to Ollaytaytambo Ruins, named in honour of chief Ollanta, who was famous for courting an Inca Princess daughter of Pachacutec ($150 per person). Overnight in Cuzco (B)

DAY 6:            CUZCO – MACHU PICCHU – CUZCO

Today you will be transferred to Poroy train station to board the Vistadome train to Aguas Calientes, which is just a short bus ride from the incredible ruins of Machu Picchu. Enjoy a guided tour of the site, which was discovered in 1911 by the American explorer Hiram Bingham.

Located on the side of a mountain overlooking the deep canyon of the Urubamba River, this citadel served as a place of worship, a site for star-gazing and a private hacienda of the family of the Inca Pachacutec. After your visit you will return by bus to Aguas Calientes and continue by Vistadome train to Poroy. On arrival you will be transferred back to your hotel in Cuzco.  Overnight in Cuzco (B)

DAY 7:             CUZCO – LIMA

Today you will be transferred to the airport to board your flight back to Lima.  Upon arrival you will be assisted by an English speaking guide and transferred to your hotel. Overnight in Lima (B/D)

DAY 8:            LIMA – CANADA (DEPART)

Today you will be transferred to International airport for your flight back to the Canada (B)

2 NIGHTS / 3 DAYS EXTENSION TO LAKE TITICACA

TOUR ITINERARY:

Day 1: 

Pickup from your hotel in Cusco and transfer to Puno by coach.

The tourist coach trip to Puno takes most of the day stopping at various sites along the way and today is one of South America’s most extraordinary overland trips. The scenery of the South Valley of Cusco is spectacular and ideal for great photography. En-route you will visit the interesting archaeological sites of Raqchi, Andahuaylillas & La Raya. Lunch is included today. Arrive in Puno and transfer to your hotel. Overnight in Puno. (B)

Day 2:

After Breakfast, take a full day tour to the Uros and the Taquile Islands.This full day excursion will take you to the highest navigable lake in the world to the floating islands of the Uros Indians. The Uros are fishermen and hunters who use the cattail, a type of rush that grows in the lake, to create these incredible floating islands.  The roofs of their dwellings are waterproof and the houses are extremely humid because of the surrounding water.  Taquile Island is famous for its craft production, particularly for its beautiful textiles. Inthe main plaza you will find a cooperative shop that sells exceptional woollen goods of the finest quality.  The island is only about 1 Km. wide and 6 to 7 Km. long, but it boasts numerous pre-Inca and Inca ruins as well as Inca terraces. Lunch is included today. Overnight in Puno. (B/L)

Day 3:

After breakfast, you are transferred to the Juliaca airport for your flight to Lima. From Lima, you’ll be transferred onto another flight back to Canada.
