About Us
Our History
Since our founding in 1886 as the Berlin Board of Trade, we’ve grown into one of the largest and most dynamic Chambers in the country, committed to supporting businesses of all sizes. With those 140 years of experience, we use that community insight paired with a forward-thinking and innovative mindset to continually evolve and meet the changing needs of our members.
Your Chamber
The Greater Kitchener Waterloo Chamber of Commerce is dedicated to providing strong, continued service to our members (1,400+ businesses strong), in one of Canada’s most innovative and fast-growing business communities, known for its top-tier talent and spirit of collaboration.
There is strength in numbers and as one of the largest chambers of commerce in Canada, we have a stronger voice to make Waterloo Region’s issues heard at the highest level. A strong business community means a strong overall community. We work together to build a stable, flourishing economy and to continue Waterloo Region’s success at Business Building Community. Those core values are built into our vision, mission, and goals.
4 Pillars
Our Members drive the programs that we offer, and what we advocate for on behalf of the local business community. Because of that, we focus our efforts on 4 key pillars, that you’ve told us that matter most to you:
- Networking
-
We provide a wide range of opportunities for members to connect with local professionals, build relationships, and grow their networks. From large-scale events to smaller group settings, our networking experiences are designed to bring the business community together in meaningful ways.
- Education
-
We offer learning and professional development opportunities that support the growth of local businesses and leaders. Through in-person workshops, a library of online resources, Peer2Peer groups, and more… members gain insights and skills to help them succeed in a rapidly changing world.
- Member Savings
- Advocacy
-
We champion the interests of our members at the local, provincial, and federal levels, working on key issues that impact business success. Our key priorities include housing, transportation, healthcare, employment & jobs, and placemaking & livability.
Our Team
We have a passionate and ambitious team of full-time staff working behind the scenes to produce the networking opportunities, education resources, member rewards, and advocacy efforts that you need to succeed. We also are fortunate to have the support and guidance of our Board of Directors, which consists of a group of dedicated volunteers who represent, and advocate for, our membership.
Our Strategic Plan
The current Strategic Plan outlines the Chamber’s priorities, goals, and direction for a 3-year period, from 2023-2026. It helps us stay focused, measure progress, and make decisions that support our members and the broader business community. By delivering on this plan, we ensure we’re moving forward with purpose and creating real impact across the Region.
