For anyone who manufactures, imports, advertises, sells or tests a consumer product now have a number of important things to remember to ensure Health Canada compliance. For retailers and suppliers these are specific points of interest.
Here some of the areas that retailers and suppliers should take note of:
• Current Requirements for Record Keeping
• Timing and length of record kept
• Location of records
• Ability to provide documentation to Health Canada
• Current general exemptions
The overall purpose for the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act is to ensure that products are able to be traced throughout the supply chain at all times for the purposed of timely mandatory incident reporting, effective product recalls, and routine inspections. We recommend that if your business deals with consumer products at any point in the supply chain that you take a moment and review the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act to ensure you are in compliance.
If you have any further questions about this legislation please consult the Health Canada website for more details and contact information.
