Ontario Provincial Election Primer

Ontario’s political parties are off and running, now that Premier Doug Ford has called an election for February 27, 2025.

Our partners at NorthGuide, have prepared an election primer (which you can see here), which provides a summary of the top three issues and where the parties stand — on tariffs, housing & affordability, and healthcare.

For our part, the Chamber has launched a Provincial Speakers’ Series – where we invited the party leaders, or their designates, to come and speak to our business community about the issues that are top of mind for Waterloo Region. I had the opportunity to sit down with Green Party leader Mike Schreiner, Liberal Party leader Bonnie Crombie, NDP leader Marit Stiles, and Ontario’s Minister for Red Tape Reduction, Mike Harris Jr. If you missed any of those events, you can access recordings of the discussions on our YouTube channel.

One of the many questions I asked every party leader was whether they will publicly reinforce their commitment to building a new hospital in Waterloo Region. It’s critical infrastructure that will enable this community to manage growth.

As a Chamber, we continue to advocate for our Members and the business community at large. If you want to help support the work we do, you can read this post for some recommendations or email me below.
