The Chamber is Hiring a Marketing Coordinator (entry level) for the Access Student Talent Program

The Greater Kitchener Waterloo Chamber of Commerce (GKWCC)’s Access Student Talent program helps small businesses connect with post-secondary student talent for work-integrated learning opportunities. When small businesses engage in work-integrated learning they can connect with future talent, increase their productivity, raise awareness about their organization and industry, and tap into the creative and innovative ideas that students bring. When students participate in work-integrated learning opportunities, they gain work experience, develop valuable skills, and make important connections to the business community that can help prepare them for their careers.

We are looking for a Marketing Coordinator to work on the Access Student Talent team. This is an entry level role that will be responsible for promoting the Access Student Talent program to local small businesses, as well as the rest of the community. You will also assist the Business Development Coordinator with connecting with the small business community to educate and engage them in work-integrated learning opportunities.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Creating, maintaining, and reviewing the electronic and print marketing materials including branding, website presence, swag, marketing collateral
  • Developing and implementing social media marketing strategy and activities
  • Assisting with documentation development to support reporting and budget mechanisms
  • Conducting research and analysis as required for the project
  • Preparing resource material and report writing as required
  • Writing blog posts
  • Using WordPress to update the Access Student Talent webpages, post blogs, and provide resources to businesses
  • Undertaking regular reporting of marketing activities to provide interpretation, guidance, and recommendations
  • Attending networking events to promote initiative and develop leads
  • Supporting the program’s business outreach efforts when required, which may include cold calling businesses
  • Event planning (virtual and in-person), including organizing webinars
  • Providing information as required for reporting purposes
  • Assisting the Access Student Talent team with achieving the goals of the program
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Experience with creating electronic and print marketing materials
  • Experience with creating and executing a social media strategy in order to promote an organization or initiative
  • Excellent written and verbal (in-person and phone) communication skills
  • Self-starter with the ability to take initiative and ownership of responsibilities
  • An interest in supporting the business community
  • The ability to research and summarize information succinctly
  • A valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle

Position Information:

  • Full time hours: 37.5 hours per week
  • Contract position until March 31, 2022
  • The position will be based virtually or at the Greater Kitchener Waterloo Chamber of Commerce office located at 80 Queen St. N., Kitchener, ON. Location will depend on the GKWCC pandemic protocols.
