Volunteer Committees

Through various volunteer committees and task forces, more than 150 volunteers help carry out the Chamber’s mission and business plan for creating the best possible community to work, play and live in.

Chamber committees offer many ways to get involved – make a difference in your community by volunteering, share your expertise through our many opportunities and get plugged in. If you’re interested in joining any of the committees listed below, please fill out this form.

Business After 5

To provide support and guidance for a networking event with a small tradeshow atmosphere to promote member products and/or services.

Business Excellence Awards (Nominations)

To provide support and guidance to the Chamber for the determination of a list of nominees for the prestigious Business Excellence Awards, and make recommendations for Award recipients.

Chamber Young Professionals

A peer-to-peer group that provides networking and business education opportunities to young professionals.

Ambassador 

Assists the Chamber Staff with ‘odd jobs’ and random tasks to support all chamber initiatives across events, sales, marketing, advocacy, leadership, etc. The Task Force does not have any regular meetings however, they will be called upon regularly whenever extra assistance is required for a chamber-related program.

Diversity & Inclusion

To support and develop a membership that reflects the unique and diverse makeup of Waterloo Region, by ensuring diversity and inclusion is present in all aspects of the Chamber’s work, communications, processes and events.

Federal & Provincial Affairs

To review federal and Ontario legislation in portfolios such as taxation, workforce development, post-secondary education, pension reform, and health care.

Regional & Municipal Affairs

To monitor initiatives and developments within local municipalities and advise the Chamber Board of Directors on appropriate positions/responses. Committee members have often appeared with Chamber staff at committee and council meetings.

Women’s Leadership

To promote the development of leadership skills, knowledge and personal confidence for women with careers in both the private and public sectors by pursuing activities that involve both women and men in three main areas Leadership Education, Networking & Business Opportunities and Recognition of Success.
