Job Posting: Events Assistant


The Events Assistant is responsible for coordinating and executing day to day tasks in the Events Department. You will work alongside a team to deliver successful, high calibre events, and positive guest experiences.

Ideal Applicant Profile:

  • Post-secondary courses in marketing, event planning and/or communications
  • Some event managing experience
  • Proficiency in Social Media Management
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer services skills
  • Excellent organizational, multi-tasking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, quickly evolving environment
  • Ability to fit with current Chamber team
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Publisher, Outlook, etc.)

Specific Accountabilities

  • Reports to CEO and/or Lead in the Events Department
  • Provide member service by communicating Chamber information as requested
  • Coordinate and identify future sponsorship opportunities with Partnerships & Special Projects Manager
  • Manage events assigned which include: managing supplies and equipment needs, venue and vendor liaison, cost control, communication and marketing, event materials, registration requirements, payment requirements
  • Provide support to department lead as needed.
  • Provide articles and communications to the editor for The Advocate magazine
  • Provide events communications to member services for publications as needed
  • Manage committees as assigned to meet budget targets and committee mandates, including preparation of agendas, minutes and communication of concerns
  • Assist with updates to website as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
