We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Events Manager.

Events Manager

The Event Manager is responsible for managing selected events in accordance with the predetermined events schedule, managing a number of committees, and providing support to the events team.  As a member of the Chamber senior management team, the Events Manager will supervise the Events department to ensure the successful completion of departmental and organizational goals.

Ideal Applicant Profile:

  • An undergraduate degree in events, event planning, communications or a related discipline
  • 1 to 3 years’ supervisory experience
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in events management, volunteer relationship and management, sales experience would be an asset
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, Microsoft Office, Power Point, desktop publishing software, experience in Membee (Membership Management Database) or equivalent software is an asset
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent organizational, decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Social Media Management
  • Ability to meet deadlines (focus, multiple deadlines)
  • Ability to fit with current Chamber team

Specific Accountabilities

  • Supervise the activities of the events team
  • Support Member Services staff by creating events communications for all publications
  • Independently and with Committees develop and recommend annual events and sponsorships budgets, and manage revenue and expenditures
  • Oversee and manage all Chamber events – administration, logistics, marketing and advertising (ie. project manager for the Chamber Business Excellence Awards), delegating responsibility where appropriate
  • Work with the Manager, Finance on event reconciliations
  • Liaise with the sales team regarding event opportunities
  • Ensure assigned committees are managed in accordance with mandates
  • Other duties as agreed
