Position: Marketing Coordinator, Business Development, Community & Advocacy

Department: Marketing & Communications

Reporting Relationship: Reporting to the Director, Business Development & Strategic Initiatives under the direction of the CEO

The Marketing Coordinator will support the Chamber’s marketing initiatives through planning, executing, and tracking the marketing efforts. They will be responsible for communicating through various mediums following the Chamber’s communication guidelines.

Overall Accountabilities:

Main area of responsibility:

  • Responsible for the Chamber’s online presence through social media & communication channels
  • Responsible for coordination of the creation, implementation, and measurement of marketing across all channels for programs and initiatives.
  • Chamber’s overall growth within the community.
  • Provide monthly social media and marketing tracking reports (analytics)
  • Submit monthly content calendar in coordination with Marketing Department.
  • Complete any content updates for the Chamber’s WordPress website including ads, blog posts, etc.

Events Support:

  • Create event content to promote Chamber events & programs on Twitter & Linkedin (collaborate with Marketing department)
  • Work with the Events team to create post-event reports for sponsors.

Business Development Support

  • Review data from event wrap up reports to generate leads
  • Engage with community and future members online
  • Engage with members online and share their stories
  • Coordinate blog posts & member profiles with members and promote
  • Coordinate changes for ads sold by the business development team
  • Work with Sales and Sponsorship team to create/update sponsorship and sales packages
  • Coordinate membership and events flyers
  • Maintain “New Member Welcome” campaign
  • Work with Business Development Team to create lead opportunities
  • Promote Member Rewards programs
  • Support sales and leadership team with other projects as needed

Advocacy Support

  • Tracking mentions of the Chamber and staff in media publications
  • Work alongside VP of Advocacy to share our story and the work we do
  • Coordinate weekly blogs with the VP of Advocacy and promote them online
  • Engage with other business leaders and community champions online
  • Promote the COVID-19 business support work we are doing (Ask the Expert, Chamber Check, Rapid Screening, Ambassador Program, etc.)

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion Committee Support

  • Attend monthly DEI committee meetings
  • Create monthly agendas and take meeting minutes
  • Work closely with members of the DEI committee to ensure marketing deliverables are completed.
  • Organize notable DEI calendar days throughout the year and plan content accordingly.
  • Ensure the GKWCC team is following best DEI practices (hiring, social posts, etc.)

Physician Recruitment Support

  • Create quarterly physician recruitment reports
  • Manage and maintain physician recruitment website and Twitter account
  • Acknowledge and thank sponsors of the Physician Recruitment Program on social media
  • Update logos as needed
  • Work with Physician Recruitment Lead to create collateral for Physician Recruitment Weekend (such as the Physician Recruitment magazine).

Professional Accountabilities

  • Act in accordance with Chamber policies and applicable legislation
  • Invest in professional development activities as available from the Chamber
  • Actively participate as a team member

Other areas of responsibility

Working with and supporting the Chamber staff team with member services initiatives and administrative duties:

  • Member Retention program tasks and phone calls to members on a monthly basis
  • Monitor media mentions for the Chamber via Google News and track mentions on the “Media Tracking List”
  • Assist with media pitching (when needed).

Extras (Nice to Have)

  • Graphic design experience (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
  • Proficiency in using social media dashboard (i.e. Hootsuite, TweetDeck)
  • Experience using Constant Contact or MailChimp email marketing platforms
  • Understanding of Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL)
  • Experience with the fundamentals of inbound marketing
  • Not afraid to try something new
