Prague, Budapest, Vienna Itinerary

DAY 1:         DEPART THE CANADA

Depart Canada for Prague.

DAY 2:         PRAGUE

Arrive in the Czech Republic’s beautiful city of Prague, “The Golden City of a Hundred Spires”. Proceed to baggage claim and after clearing customs, you will be met by the representative to transfer to the hotel. Enjoy some time at leisure to afterwards meet in the lobby with your English speaking guide, who will take you on a panoramic tour of the city. Return to the hotel where you enjoy a welcome dinner at the hotel. (D)

DAY 3:         PRAGUE

After breakfast at the hotel restaurant, enjoy a full-day guided city tour of Prague. See Strahov Monastery, founded in the 12th century, with its library consisting of two baroque halls for theological and philosophical reading. From the terrace you have an outstanding view of Prague. Continue to Prague Castle, and then to St. Vitus Cathedral, the largest of the Prague churches constructed over a period of six centuries. The cathedral reflects many evolving architectural styles from High Gothic to Art Nouveau. Then visit Lesser and Old Town, St. Nicolas Church and Old Town Hall tower. Afterwards, return to your hotel for overnight. (B)

DAY 4:          PRAGUE – KARLOVY VARY – PRAGUE

After breakfast visit the largest and best known Czech spa, Karlovy Vary. The founding of the town has been linked with the name of the Emperor Charles IV since 1358 when he had a hunting lodge built here. Its twelve famous springs reach a temperature of about 72°C, at their hottest. Karlovy Vary is also famous for local china and glass manufacturing. The products of these industries are on display at special exhibitions and are sold at specialized shops. This place was visited by rulers and many artists like Goethe, Chateaubriand, Chopin, Beethoven, Brahms, Dvorak, etc. Then visit Jan Becher liquor factory and enjoy and end of the tour tasting. Next discover Karlovy Vary downtown on a short walking tour, after that you will be transferred back to the hotel in Prague. (B)

DAY 5:         PRAGUE

Enjoy your day at leisure. Explore the Old Town Square and New Town, the Charles Bridge, and the Old Jewish Cemetery with its ancient tombstones dating from the mid 14th to late 17th centuries. You might also visit Hradcany Castle on your own or take an optional tour to Pilsen.

Pilsen Included Tour: Visit the Czech Republic’s most famous glass factory, situated in the small town of Nizbor on the River Berounka (a tributary of the Vltava River), around an hour’s drive from Prague. The factory tour reveals the complete history of glass production in Bohemia. After the visit you will have the chance to do some shopping at the local factory shop. Then you will be transferred to Pilsen for a visit to Visit to the Urquell museum and brewery, and enjoy a beer tasting. Beer has been brewed in the town of Pilsen since it was founded in 1295. Your factory visit will show you how pilsner was brewed and drunk in the past, and how it is brewed and drunk today. You’ll visit the museum’s collection documenting the brewery’s 150-year history. Transfer by coach back to Prague (B)

DAY 6:         PRAGUE – BUDAPEST

Today after breakfast, you will check out from the hotel and meet your coach and guide at the hotel to be transferred to Budapest. On your way stop in Bratislava, meet your local guide and enjoy a sightseeing tour. Along your tour you will see Bratislava’s most important places and historical sights, such as the Presidential Palace, Eurovea – the modern city center, the National Theater, the unique Art Noveau Church and much more. Visit the Bratislava Castle and Napoleon’s Hill and enjoy a splendid panoramic view on the city.

Continue your walking part of the tour with visiting charming squares and narrow lanes of the Old Town. See St. Michael’s Gate, the University Istropolitana, St. Martin’s Cathedral, the Primatial Palace, the Old Town Hall and finally the Opera House. After a short free time transfer to Budapest. On arrival at Budapest, your representative can answer all your questions regarding the nearby attractions, optional tours or local restaurants. Enjoy a welcome dinner at the hotel and the rest of the evening is free at leisure. (B, D)

DAY 7:         BUDAPEST

After breakfast, take a full-day guided city tour of Budapest, aboard your private motor coach where you’ll be introduced to the main attractions of this Hungarian capital. First, visit Hosok Tere (Heroes Square) in Pest, and see the world-renowned Opera House and the Parliament. Then in Buda, take a walk through the Castle District finally ending at Gellert Hill, which offers a breathtaking view over the whole city. Visit Matthias church and Fisherman Bastion, then you can wander these charming streets or cross one of the many bridges linking Buda and Pest. Transfer back to the hotel and free time at leisure. DAY 8:          BUDAPEST

Spend the day at leisure and venture through this magnificent city. Experience a traditional Budapest ritual and visit the public baths in Spa Town with their famed thermal springs or visit the impressive Royal Castle, the former residence of the Hungarian royals, with its stunning views over the Danube and Pest.

Optional Tour: Visit the three major settlements marking the route to the scenic bend of the River Danube. We first visit Visegrad, former Royal Residence, with its fascinating view over the Danube Bend. We then proceed to Esztergom, the ecclesiastical center of Hungary, where we visit the cathedral. Afterwards, we go on a guided walking tour around Szentendre, the medieval artist’s town. Transfer back to the hotel, where you will have some time to relax and get ready for a delicious dinner at a local wine restaurant. Transfer back to the hotel. (B, D)

Overnight in Budapest

DAY 9:         BUDAPEST – VIENNA

In the morning, transfer by motor coach from Budapest to Vienna. Upon arrival in Vienna, you will be met by an English speaking guide and driver to transfer you to the hotel. Today you will enjoy a full-day of sightseeing in Vienna. As a European city, Vienna combines beauty and charm with culture, style and sophistication. You will see the Ringstrasse known for such magnificent buildings as the Museum of Applied Arts, the State Opera House, the Museum of Fine Arts and the Museum of Natural History. Afterwards see the Hofburg, and enroute, see the Stephansdom in the downtown district. End your sightseeing with a visit to the beautiful Palace Schönbrunn, and take a highlight tour inside the palace which was once the summer residence of the Hapsburg Family and Maria Theresa. Transfer back to the hotel and free time at leisure. (B, D)

DAY 10:         VIENNA

After breakfast, the day is at leisure for you to enjoy Vienna and all her charms. (B)
